The Internet as a digital pillory

It seems a bit strange that even the evening news reported that HR managers are increasingly researching the internet the background and the profile of applicants. And why should they give up this important source of information?

meantime, a new use of the Internet is doing on the Internet as a digital pillory.

According WIKIPEDIA is a pillory

"an instrument of punishment in the form of a pillar, a wooden pole or a platform on which a bound punished and was publicly presented. [...] The punishment consisted mainly of public disgrace, what the offender had to endure and often a "normal" life in the community made it impossible or very difficult. "

The following are some examples of the recent past that the character of a pillory to do justice.

"The police in the Indian capital Delhi is using the social network Facebook recently to hunt for traffic offenders. Users can upload photos and videos of illegal parking and helmet-less motorcyclists on the side of the officials. 600 traffic fines were using the digital pillory are already issued. " http://www.focus.de/digital/videos/digitaler-pranger-indische-polizei-jagt-verkehrssuender-per-facebook_vid_19147.html

"In the southern Italian city of Bari seems that some city officials to push so far the winning ball. But now the mayor of the capital of Puglia, Michele Emiliano (51), pulled out of patience: "Basta, enough!"
citizens of the city to shoot notoriously lazy when they get the thumbs turning and mail the pictures to him. He then published on his personal page on the Internet network "Facebook". " http://www.bild.de/BILD/politik/2011/01/14/italien-bari-buergermeister-michele-emiliano / blows-for-officials-lazy-jagd.html

Name, address, photo: CDU politicians think aloud about an online pillory for sex offenders. In the U.S. there is already such a database -. And they are controversial, " http://www.focus.de/digital/internet/internet-pranger-sexualstraftaeter-auf-der-uebersichtskarte_aid_539335.html

"Federal Consumer Protection Minister Ilse Aigner (CSU) will be targeted by an Internet-Pranger against false and deceptive labeling of foods.
"We must stop the false labeling," the Minister said on Sunday FIG. In Spring a website to go online, can call on the consumer products that their opinion does not contain the promise of presentation or information. " http://www.bild.de/BILD/politik/2010/10/17 benefit / bundesverbraucherschutzministerin-ilse-aigner/plant-internet-pranger-fuer-lebensmittel-schummler.html

The digital pillory is one of countless examples, such as long-known concepts of the benefits of the Internet and in digital form successfully established.

pillory give the "helpless" individuals the opportunity to grievances - real or perceived - to publicize and spontaneously mobilize a community of stakeholders. It remains to be seen whether this instrument will not soon find its way into the more significant policy and other organizations in which appears the discrepancy between the will of the parties concerned and the decisions of leaders to continue to grow.

It will be interesting to see whether in fact prove permanently specialized pillory or whether it will in the medium to a kind of consolidation with central pillory come (or meta-Prange?), A similar development towards the central platforms could be the internet for many platforms - from the auction house up to the social network - Watch.

QuinScape presents ideas Portal.com "on an Austrian top event for Innovation Management

The following text is from a press release QuinScape GmbH. However, I have taken it the same in my blog, because the topic is simple at heart and I am always amazed how the delicate bloom of the ideas will be trampled under the motto (incidentally, an O-Ton):

"It is helpful if proposals submitted by mail and attachments are sent in two copies."

Here So the press release.

With the software solution "ideas-Portal.com 'ideas are gathered, evaluated and utilized. This solution is for companies that want to involve their employees in a structured manner in the business-critical process of upgrading their products, services and processes. QuinScape presenting the software at 31.3. at the 8th Innovation Forum, the Austrian top event for Innovation Management in Vienna.

thoughts on the future of driving

In this post I would like to make a modest aspect of such innovations in the automotive industry. A precursor of what I pointed like (sometimes to the chagrin of my fellow human beings in wild Bars discussions) formulated as follows:

already own for reasons of safety, it is us (humans) in the near future will no longer be allowed, even a car to control.

The first or intermediate stage, which I believe is at least worth a thought, the remote control of a car .

Imagine, your view through the windshield base, through the rear view mirror and any other interesting perspectives (eg, the blind spot) are recorded by cameras, possibly in three dimensions. Technically, this is almost trivial. Microphones also register the street noise. Let us further imagine that these "perceptions" can be reliably transmitted in real time at any point. If we then also establish the return channel, the conceptual leap for the remote control of vehicles not far away.

Now one may ask what sense could have.
Here are some suggestions:

1. Consider how many times we stand in the transport or the logistics necessarily have to accept due to driving time of truck drivers. In that time, "rests" the capital (trucks) and the product is not an inch from the spot.

2. same applies to bus . Some have an extra driver to be taken on board to allow any, longer distances (almost) back down in one piece.

3. Think about how much better the capacity of drivers or the resource utilization could be scheduled, if this could be physically separate from the vehicle: the driver stationary contracts is similar to that of Service agents in a call center assigned.

4. Take time to take a taxi home, because you are not fit to drive? (This is not a criticism that could be a compliment, you understand the question wrong.) Frequently one would need a taxi but actually (mobile plus car driver) but only the driver . If this also can remote control your driver as a stationary car, this would improve the cost structure dramatically (better ride home) and also prevent many empty trips.

I hope the examples suffice to demonstrate that the thought experiment is quite interesting.

Until then we definitely can not drive, can and must - neither the vehicle nor stationary. way in my view, a desirable prospect, not a nightmare.

Schrodinger cake

or: Robert has (had) birthday.

"on the occasion of my already elapsed birthday of on Monday, I had built up in the kitchen a little experiment , which I will explain shortly.

A Danube waves is half-wave, half-particles and thus the quantum theory is equivalent to light.

As an immediate consequence is that the waves of the Danube, according Heisenberg uncertainty principle can not watch without manipulating it.

I have placed in the kitchen a lot of wave-particle Danube.
For anyone who does not want to see it is possible that there are 2 states: presence or eaten. According to the example of Schrödinger's cat both exist simultaneously.

unless one looks at changes and by observing the state of eating there.

gadgets geek shop!! a pinch of good marketing

and

"The expression Geek [gi ː k] (English slang for nerds, LR scholar) has changed over time in the name of a person, which is characterized by a strong interest in scientific and fictional themes - usually but not exclusively, by electronic or fantastic nature. [...]"

Does not that curious?
On Gadgets in Geek Shop?

Well, that advertises the shop getDigital.de.

My personal answer is simple: getDigital.de has managed to me (and many others) get to write about the gadget geek in the shop.

Namely by a simple but effective mechanism : in the main menu Blogger a corresponding menu item explicitly addressed . As a blogger, you get a non-bureaucratic way (in fact, an e-mail) a coupon for product samples and subject only to the condition of writing about the shop. Whether positive or negative, this is not part of the agreement.

I can observe the effect on myself. About the shop I am more of stumbled through a Google search. On the " Blogger page " come to me then has the simple and open way excited bloggers to integrate into the corporate advertising.

And so consequently created this post.

remains for me only getDigital.de wish them continued success. Maybe even think in this context one or the other company itself about how bloggers and active members of social media networks through small incentives to missionaries or at least messages can be converted.

Let's see which gadget I now give ...

Technical:

They usually consist of grid posts and horizontal bars. Both the post and in the horizontal bars, we are able to offer you a wide range of design options.

Our range includes modern and historical record grassing posts, the various horizontal rods can: round bar, square bar or superscript steel strapping. However, combinations with chains or ropes are possible. As the material is true to the historical and Grade II listed cast iron models are used. Our modern trucks are made of cast aluminum, cast iron, galvanized steel, and combinations of materials. From design and stability reasons, only horizontal rods of solid material can be used.

connecting straps enable quick and easy installation without welding the horizontal bars on site.

A variety of accessories allows a flexible grid course and conclusion of any grid. Radii and corners of the horizontal bars can be made at any time with us.

You go from a standard distance of the posts to one another of about 2000 mm aus, wobei der Abstand des Pfostens zu Ecken und Enden ca. 500 mm betragen sollte.

mayor on bargain hunting - Four Square, Facebook & Co.

Note: The following article appeared in my column "Perspective 2.0 for the TM 2.0:
http://www.hdt-essen.de/htd/tm/kolumne_perspektivezweinull_003.html

you know Foursquare ? (If the answer is yes is, you do not actually read. However, even often in my IT-affinity circle the answer no is, it should be people who read more ...)

Four Square is a so-called location-based service. Registered users can "locations" to create and add to interesting places such as restaurants, gas stations, but also firms and their own home into a giant directory. With the smartphone, this goes in a few seconds as the phone has GPS precisely locates the user. Once a location is created, you can then "check in" (again, just push the button) and to share this with friends.

What is to be good? Well, then there are many answers. First of all, the game engine will be funded: Each check-in and each trip brings issues that meticulously recorded and be a leaderboard exhibited. As you stand compared to your friends? Bonus Points ("Badget") are available for special services. For example, the tenth Check-in rewards in a gym with the Badget "Gym Rat".

it is particularly prestigious to be the Mayor ("Mayor ") of a village. This track is automatically the person who has checked most often on the site. At busy locations such as railway stations here can ignite a real competition.

The social component is interesting t: you can Tips store locations (for example, where you get the best coffee in the Dortmund main train station) and see who's near you. I personally find this feature very handy: I recently discovered only by Four Square that have met some old school friends in the beer garden around the corner - and was able to encounter any problems. Therefore contributes to the chance meeting a little on the jumps.

Ultimately the focus is of course the commercial exploitation, which is in Germany still in its infancy. A first example is the restaurant chain Vapiano, the Four Square mayor at each visit with a free coffee drink rewarded.

has recently started Facebook own service in the style of Four Square: Facebook Places. At 500 million registered users worldwide, of whom more than 50% every day at least once Facebook, so now it is really exciting. Commercial interest is the combination with the new service Facebook deal: Users automatically receive special offers recommended in the vicinity. The fashion chain CAP has given away as in the United States to the first 10,000 customers who have "checked in" via Facebook Places in one of the branches, a pair of jeans.

is Naturally these services in Germany with more Skepticism encountered as for example in the U.S.. Despite all the justified objections precluded if a wide audience of users but not from using the services and to lay the ground for commercially profitable marketing campaigns. In this respect, it is expected that the services are gaining in importance in Germany.

Do you know who the Four Square-Mayor ("Mayor") in your company, who then checks in regularly and which tips are stored?
